Targeted design interventions that have a major impact – both in terms of atmospheric appearance and in economic terms.

The Tuffbad in the Carinthian Lesachtal has been expanded several times in the last 20 years as a grown tourism business, it was pieced together and partially renovated. These construction phases and styles were most evident in the public areas. The task was to develop a contemporary overall design that would match the quality of the superior hotel.

The new lighting and color concept of dark tones creates a tranquil atmosphere, and the farm’s own thermal spring, which has enlivened the place for centuries, is characteristically showcased. The zoning of bar and lobby, store and reception, and the mix of existing and new furnishings create openness and a lounge that can be played in all day.

A special coup was achieved with the installation of a curtain: as a light border between bar and buffet, it creates atmospheric clarity. Guests gather in the newly defined bar for an aperitif until the buffet is opened theater-like with the raising of the curtain. It’s a small intervention that the owner says has doubled sales at the bar.
